Our lovingly renovated holiday home in Schalkenmehren combines historic charm with modern comfort. Built in 1866 and extensively renovated in 2026, the house offers a distinctive setting that brings together tranquillity, comfort and practicality.

The house has two living rooms, a main bedroom, a children’s bedroom with bunk beds, a fully equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom with a shower and washing machine, and an additional upstairs WC. The bright conservatory and enclosed garden of around 250 square metres make it particularly comfortable for families and longer stays.

The Schalkenmehrener Maar is around three minutes away on foot. The house is ideal for guests looking for nature, walking, the Daun maars and a peaceful village in the Vulkaneifel.

Practical facilities, family-friendly details and plenty of room to spend time together or enjoy some peace and quiet.

Facilities include fast Wi-Fi up to 250 Mbit/s, four televisions, satellite TV, a washing machine and parking at the house. Everything is ready for a comfortable short break or a full week in the Vulkaneifel.

The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and other cooking equipment. Families will also find a high chair, games and useful everyday essentials.

The two separate living rooms and conservatory provide space to retreat, read, play or enjoy a quiet evening after a trip to the maars, even when the house is fully occupied.

The house is designed for a peaceful, straightforward stay, including when children and dogs come along.

As dog owners ourselves, we wanted to offer an Eifel holiday home that makes travelling with dogs easier. The enclosed garden provides a protected outdoor space, while the short walks into nature make everyday outings enjoyable.

The house also suits families. The children’s bedroom with bunk beds, two living rooms, conservatory and village playground offer a good balance of shared time and quiet corners. It is a comfortable base for family holidays or peaceful nature breaks.

About your hosts

We discovered Schalkenmehren by chance on a motorhome trip in 2024 and immediately fell in love with its atmosphere. A year later, we had the opportunity to buy this house and renovate it with great attention to detail.
